What EZ Importer is

EZ Importer is a Chrome extension that reads product details from a supplier's product page you are viewing and passes them to the EZ Import application running on your own computer, so the product can be added to your Shopify store.

What it reads

When you click the EZ Importer toolbar button, and only then, the extension reads the following from the page currently open in that tab:

product title
product description
product image URLs
the price shown on the page
the page's own web address

What it does not do

It does not run in the background.
It does not read pages you have not clicked the button on.
It does not track, record, or store your browsing history.
It does not collect names, email addresses, passwords, payment details, location, or any personally identifiable information.
It does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind.

Where the data goes

Captured product details are sent to https://localhost:8811 — an address that refers to your own computer and nowhere else. Your product data, prices, and images are not sent to us or to any third party.

Error reports

When something goes wrong during an import, a diagnostic report is sent automatically to a server we operate, so that we can find and fix the problem without asking you to read a log file.

An error report contains only:

the error message and technical detail of what failed
the web address of the supplier page the import was attempted from
the extension version
a random identifier for the installation, so repeated reports from the same computer can be grouped

That random identifier is not linked to you, your name, your email address, or your store. Error reports never contain your Shopify credentials, customer data, or order information. They are automatically deleted after 30 days.
